Ruby joined CLUES in 2012 as President and CEO, after a long professional career in philanthropy, media, and state government. Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES) is Minnesota’s largest Latino nonprofit focused on advancing economic prosperity, advancing access to behavioral health and family wellbeing, and advancing community leadership through advocacy, cultural engagement, and youth development.

Ruby’s leadership is focused on addressing and lowering the large racial and economic disparities in Minnesota and changing narratives, outcomes, and conditions for Latinos to achieve wellness, socio-economic prosperity, and thrive.

Ruby serves on local and national boards to represent the voices of Latinos and the Midwest. As an immigrant herself, Ruby is a strong advocate of Latinos and immigrants across the country. She is certain that providing culturally anchored interventions and networks of support are still vital tools to afford a sense of belonging and improve access and opportunities for immigrants and Latinos.

CLUES has grown its footprint and impact over the last decade, and today has over 150 employees, over 600 volunteers, and offices in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Willmar, and Austin, Minnesota. Under Ruby’s leadership, CLUES Saint Paul Headquarters was expanded to an iconic 40,000 sq. ft. building owned for and by Latinos. This community-owned building is now home to a state-of-the-art technology center for youth, a Latino arts gallery, an employment/workforce training center, a healthy food market, and a venue for building community and artist social capital.

CLUES and the Latinx community are now aiming to own a similar cultural center on Lake Street, Minneapolis, where CLUES has had a presence and delivered services for over 30 years.
