Las familias latinas con beb\u00e9s y ni\u00f1os peque\u00f1os en Minnesota se enfrentan a diferentes obst\u00e1culos para lograr una transici\u00f3n exitosa de sus hijos al jard\u00edn de infancia. Seg\u00fan el Banco de la Reserva Federal de Minneapolis, los ni\u00f1os latinos y los nativos americanos tienen las tasas de competencia m\u00e1s bajas, con un 68% y un 62%, respectivamente. Adem\u00e1s, los ni\u00f1os latinos tienen una de las tasas m\u00e1s bajas de participaci\u00f3n en los programas de la primera infancia. Este problema no es nuevo; Minnesota ha tenido una tendencia de preparaci\u00f3n escolar desigual durante d\u00e9cadas. Si queremos lograr soluciones permanentes y sostenibles, debemos ser creativos e implementar estrategias basadas en el empoderamiento y el compromiso de la comunidad.<\/p>

A finales de 2019, el Departamento de Servicios Humanos de Minnesota emiti\u00f3 una subvenci\u00f3n de sistemas de familia completa \"para descubrir y abordar las influencias sist\u00e9micas relacionadas con las desigualdades raciales, geogr\u00e1ficas y econ\u00f3micas.\" CLUES fue una de las ocho organizaciones a las que se les concedi\u00f3 esta subvenci\u00f3n, y nuestro trabajo comenz\u00f3 en noviembre de 2019. Nuestro objetivo es lograr la innovaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s del empoderamiento de la comunidad.<\/p>

Las investigaciones muestran una fuerte relaci\u00f3n positiva entre el rendimiento de los alumnos y la participaci\u00f3n de los padres en la educaci\u00f3n de sus hijos. Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 necesitan los padres para involucrarse en el proceso de aprendizaje de sus hijos? \u00bfY qu\u00e9 barreras encuentran las familias latinas de Minnesota para acceder a servicios de alta calidad de atenci\u00f3n y educaci\u00f3n temprana? Creemos que los padres y cuidadores son los expertos en la experiencia de aprendizaje de sus hijos. Por lo tanto, son un componente pilar en nuestros procesos de dise\u00f1o, implementaci\u00f3n y evaluaci\u00f3n de programas que abordan la preparaci\u00f3n escolar desigual.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

En primer lugar, CLUES reclut\u00f3 a 30 padres que viven en el \u00e1rea de las Ciudades Gemelas con ni\u00f1os de 0 a 5 a\u00f1os para que formaran parte de nuestro Grupo Asesor de Padres (PAG). Realizamos entrevistas individuales y facilitamos talleres y conversaciones focalizadas. Les preguntamos qu\u00e9 necesitar\u00edan para lograr una transici\u00f3n m\u00e1s exitosa al jard\u00edn de infantes. Como resultado, el PAG y CLUES crearon conjuntamente cuatro programas piloto para reforzar los niveles de preparaci\u00f3n escolar de los ni\u00f1os latinos que se implementar\u00e1n este a\u00f1o. Uno de estos programas piloto es \"Sembrando \u00c9xitos: padres y madres como primeros maestros\". El GAP estableci\u00f3 los temas generales del plan de estudios, y CLUES desarroll\u00f3 el contenido y las actividades en colaboraci\u00f3n con socios externos y miembros del personal.<\/span><\/p>

En febrero lanzamos la primera iteraci\u00f3n de Sembrando \u00c9xitos. Antes del programa, s\u00f3lo el 16% de los participantes conoc\u00eda el cribado de la primera infancia, el 56% se sent\u00eda c\u00f3modo hablando con sus hijos sobre educaci\u00f3n sexual y el 55% se sent\u00eda seguro o muy seguro de s\u00ed mismo y de sus capacidades para cuidar de sus hijos. Despu\u00e9s del programa, el 100% conoc\u00eda el cribado en la primera infancia, el 100% se sent\u00eda c\u00f3modo hablando con sus hijos sobre educaci\u00f3n sexual, y el 88% se sent\u00eda seguro o muy seguro de s\u00ed mismo y de sus capacidades para cuidar de sus hijos. Adem\u00e1s, el porcentaje de padres que leen a sus hijos una o m\u00e1s veces al d\u00eda aument\u00f3 del 22% al 27%, y el porcentaje de padres que leen a sus hijos tres o m\u00e1s veces por semana aument\u00f3 del 44% al 53%.<\/p>

Implicar a la comunidad en el dise\u00f1o y la evaluaci\u00f3n de nuestros programas piloto nos permite adaptar el contenido y los materiales a sus necesidades. Pero tambi\u00e9n nos facilita la identificaci\u00f3n de oportunidades de cambio sist\u00e9mico.
