Lo \u00fanico que se ten\u00eda en cuenta era la etiqueta de la persona con discapacidad, y no sus puntos fuertes o sus talentos. Si una persona con discapacidad quer\u00eda recibir estos apoyos, ten\u00eda que averiguar c\u00f3mo adaptarse y planificar su vida en torno a los servicios ofrecidos. Estos servicios se centraban en arreglar a la persona, sin tenerla en cuenta.<\/p><p>Sin embargo, a partir de los a\u00f1os 60 las personas con discapacidad empezaron a exigir m\u00e1s control sobre los servicios. La idea de la \"autodeterminaci\u00f3n\" surgi\u00f3 de este movimiento, al considerar que las personas con discapacidad son las que hacen que las cosas sucedan en sus propias vidas, en lugar de que otros hagan las cosas para o por ellas.<\/p><p>Este es el n\u00facleo de la planificaci\u00f3n centrada en la persona, que acepta que la persona con discapacidad es completa, con dones, puntos fuertes y talentos que ofrecer a su comunidad. Se considera a la persona m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su etiqueta de discapacidad y se la ve como un individuo con derecho a tomar decisiones.<\/p><p>La planificaci\u00f3n centrada en la persona es un proceso que sit\u00faa a la persona con discapacidad en el centro del trabajo, incluyendo la red de la persona (que incluye a la familia, los amigos, los compa\u00f1eros de trabajo, los profesionales y otras personas importantes en la vida de esa persona).
