The Avanzando through College program supports first generation Latinx students achieve success in their first year, and gain the tools and support necessary to graduate college in four years
Through Team building activities, events, and workshops, participants:
Receive direct support related to student’s college experience
Develop helpful & practical skills as student’s navigate college
Identify new scholarships, internships, volunteer, and leadership opportunities
Build community with other Latinx first-generation college students in the Twin Cities
Active participants will be eligible for a paid summer internship
What I’ve most enjoyed about Avanzando is the opportunity to think about my future and how I can better myself.
The program has given me an opportunity to learn skills that help me be successful both in and out of school. It’s helped me to be intentional about my plans for the year and the check-ins and accountability from program staff has been good motivation to stay on track. I’ve learned real life skills that you’re not taught in school that will help me in school and will continue to help me post-graduation when I become a teacher.
