CLUES is heartbroken to share that a member of our family, Jose Rivera, passed away yesterday due to complications from a lung condition. Jose became ill in October 2019 and was being treated at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina while awaiting a lung transplant. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4.

Jose joined CLUES in June 2018 and was instrumental in establishing our office and presence in Austin, Minnesota. Jose’s positive energy was a blessing to every person he encountered, bringing joy and connection to his community. As an immigrant whose close family remained in Honduras, the city of Austin embraced him and became his family. He was a well-known community leader and was passionate about creating opportunities for Latinos and the community at large.

Jose’s big smile, giant heart and commitment to service will be deeply missed by his community in Austin and by all of us here at CLUES. We send our condolences to the city of Austin and the Austin Latino community who along with us lost a unique and resourceful friend and professional.
