CLUES financial coaches provide you with 1-on-1 assistance to help you define your financial goals around asset creation and protection and work with you to gain the skills and resources you need to accomplish them.

Navigating the financial system can be daunting and complex. Understanding these six components of Financial Capability will help set the path towards long term financial stability:

If you’re looking to improve your own or your family’s money management skills, create and improve your credit, gain access to supplemental resources (such as our Lending Circles program) and receive support navigating financial processes and applications, contact CLUES today to meet with a financial coach!

Financial coaches are available by appointment in both Spanish and English CLUES Minneapolis and St. Paul offices, or by limited availability in Austin and Willmar.

Lending Circles

CLUES Lending Circles – or Tandas are built on a cultural tradition of lending money and saving together among family and friends.

What are the benefits?

  • Get a secured loan, without cost or interest
  • Establish or build credit
  • Improve the way you manage money

CLUES organizes groups of savers, processes payments electronically and reports them to credit agencies. We cover all costs and also provide you with financial education.

Tax Preparation

CLUES offers free tax preparation service for people with low or medium income. The confidential service is performed by IRS-certified volunteers and includes electronic delivery directly to the IRS.

CLUES is also authorized by the IRS to assist you in requesting your ITIN.

What is an ITIN?

The ITIN is the Taxpayer's Personal Identification Number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The ITIN is used to identify and process your tax return or to claim a refund. It does not affect your employment or immigration status, nor does it grant federal or state benefits rights to the taxpayer.

Tax and ITIN services are offered throughout the year, but space is limited especially during tax season. Click here to view information about our free tax clinics and how to register.
