Becoming an American: a student from CLUES' citizenship classes becomes naturalized
Jesús at his socially distanced naturalization ceremony at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.
CLUES would like to highlight and congratulate our citizenship student Jesús. Jesús arrived in the US in 2003 from Michoacán, Mexico. He and his wife currently reside in Eagan. His citizenship teacher clearly remembers Jesús’s first day of class in February 2019. He arrived fully prepared - donning a new backpack full of supplies that his wife bought him. Jesús was a regular face at CLUES and studied more than 115 hours through both in-person and virtual classes.
Jesús successfully passed his naturalization interview and test on September 29, 2020. The following week Jesús talked with his classmates via Zoom to share his experience and answer their questions.
Jesús’s naturalization ceremony was on November 2 and he was able to vote for the first time as a citizen the following day!
His teachers Anaid, David, Erica, Joe, Mallie, Natalya and Pam, along with staff in the CLUES Adult Education department want to congratulate Jesús for his dedication and well-deserved success!
