This week, April 18-24, is National Volunteer Week! Each day we’ll be sharing about the wonderful volunteers who make our work possible.
Today’s volunteer in the spotlight is Katherine Herrera! In 2020 Katherine volunteered with CLUES for the first time as an Adult Mental Health Case Management Intern Family Services program. “Katherine started with me last year as an intern and did an incredible job meeting with my clients and helping them work towards their goals. When I went on maternity leave she covered my absence and was able to hit all of our monthly goals while I was gone. Since the Creando Puentes grant was approved to add a second case manager we were able to add her to our team and she has been an incredible addition. She works tirelessly to meet the needs of her clients and constantly pushes herself towards improvement. She has helped us restructure our program and make it even more efficient. I am so glad that she chose to do her internship with CLUES which led her to join our team. We are lucky to have her!” said her supervisor Emily Harris, Adult Mental Health Case Manager.
Here’s what Katherine had to say about what CLUES means to her: “To me it means home. It's a place where I get to help the community, especially an underrepresented community. It is really my passion and it's specifically designed to work with the people that I love the most, that I work on the most, and who grew up advocating for the people who never really had someone to advocate for them. It really means a lot and it really has a special place in my heart. It's my first job straight out of college so it means making a difference.”
Thank you for all you do, Katherine! Stay tuned throughout the week for more volunteer spotlights.
